Recombination studies involving the siren gene in the mouse

Evidence for nonallelic interaction between the srn and Sd genes

Abstract

Allelism between the srn and Sd genes was indirectly excluded, based on recombination data from rhl+,+lsrn and fil+,+Isrn intercrosses. lntercross results also indi cated that the Sd and srn loci are not linked. The between-locus interaction between Sd and srn is cumulative, resulting in the Sd srn phenotype in Sdl+,+lsrn mice in which srn is penetrant.
