Abstract
A null mutation at the Mod-1 locus in the mouse Is described. The mutation occurred spontaneously in the C57BL/6Jstrain. Individuals homozygous for the mutant allele survive to reproduce, but there appears to be a detrimental sex-associated viability effect in some individuals carrying the mutant gene.
