Abstract

Using fluorescence microscopy a vlsu-system was developed which allowed the monitoring of the uptake of isolated chromosomes by plant protoplast under various conditions. The optimal conditions were a 20-minute exposure to a 35 percent polyethylen glycol solution. Under these conditions about 1 percent of the recipient protoplasts contained a foreign chromosome.
