Abstract

Buffalo gourd seed were analyzed nonde structively for fatty acid composition. Heritability of fatty acid contents was determined as the slope of the linear regression of peogeny values on midparent. Linoleate and oleate were highly heritable and showed a strong inverse correlation, stearate was less heritable, and no significant regression was obtained for palmitate. Breeding for a wide range of oleate and llnofeate contents in this oil should be possible
