Abstract

In soybeans (Glycine max [L.] Merr), Pl 96983 carries the Rsv gene that confers re sistance to strains G1 to G8 of soybean mosaic virus (SMV). A single dominant gene from the Ralden cultivar was shown to differ from Rsv The newly characterized gene, Rsv2 gives resistance to SMV strains G1 through G7A.
