Abstract

The gene, sym-2, which confers resistance to many strains of Rhizobium leguminosarum and was first described in Pisum sativum cv. Afghanistan, is shown to be linked (about 18 percent recombination) to the locus d, which controls axillary pigmentation. Crosses involving other pea genotypes having the same Rhizobium specificity as Afghanistan indicate that resistance in all cases is due to sym-2.
