Abstract
The analysis of sugar beet cells at three different somatic stagesprophase, early metaphase, and mid-metaphasepermits the identification and physical measurement of individual chromosomes and determines the break-point of some structural changes. This technique is successfully applied in the identification of an acrocentric chromosome 9S9L in the sugar beet.
