Abstract

The dope oxidase activity of tyroslnase and the dopachrome conversion activity of dopachrome oxidoreductase (dopachrome conversion factor) are reduced in skin or hair follicle extracts of pheomelanic mice compared with eumelanic mice. In this study, pheomelanic tissues are compared with eumelanic tissues of the same mice and found to be reduced in their DO and DC activities. Implications are discussed.
