Abstract
The dominant mutations, fused (Fu) and kinky (Ki), are located on chromosome 17, and have much in common in phenotypic expression. In the course of studies aimed at Identifying genetic factors interacting with the genes Fu and Ki in the house mouse we demonstrated the influence of t12 on these genes evident In a decrease in their penetrance to 59 to 70%. The results of reciprocal crosses indicated that the maternally derived Fu and Ki genes exhibited lowered penetrance despite the absence of the t12-bearing chromosome In the zygote. The possible mechanisms of such an effect of the t12 haplotype are discussed.
