Abstract
A seedling virescent trait of tetraploid reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea L.) is controlled by duplicate gene action with complete dominance for the normal (nonvirescent) phenotype. Segregation in the F2 and F3 generations was disomic, not tetrasomic, indicating that reed canarygrass is an alloploid. Our results are in agreement with the normal meiotic configurations previously teported for this species.
