Abstract
The chicken insulin-like growth factor has been assigned to the arm of chromosome 1 near the centromere by fluorescence in situ hybidization and genetic linkage analysis. Comparison of physical and fenetic linkage maps loccates the centromere between the I and GAPD loci. Comparison of the genetic maps of chicken and the other vertebrates reveals a highly conserved syntenic group, in cludind the GAPD-LGF1 loci.
