Abstract
Mitochondrial (mt) and chloroplast (ct) DNA's were prepared from progeny of reciprocal crosses of Z. mays and Z. perennis cytoplasms and were analyzed by restriction endonucleases. The resultant fragment patterns showed that each species contained unique mt and ctDNA's, and that the organelle genomes displayed strict maternal inheritance.
