Cover. The leafy cactus, Pereskia guamacho F. A. C. Weber, in full bloom in Margarita Island, Venezuela. This is the only species in the genus that flowers in leafless condition at the end of the dry season. Flowers are solitary or fascicled, hermaphroditic, bright yellow, and diurnal and last less than one day. This cactus is distributed in northeastern Colombia, Bonaire Island, and Venezuela.
