In the Triassic, Tuataras (Sphenodon punctatus) were globally distributed but today are found only on offshore islands in New Zealand, with the highest numbers found on Stephens Island (30,000-50,000 individuals), where this individual was sunbathing in a bed of non-native daisies (see Wang et al. pp. 541-548).
